Should people have the choice of whether their taxes be used for higher education subsidies or not?
I was thinking about this very carefully and concluded that the feds shouldn't really be subsidizing higher ed to this degree. I know, I know. I've heard all the arguments. But do you know 90% of for-profit college revenues come from federal student loans. And nowadays in the higher ed world, there isn't much difference between that for-profit tag and non-profit. They're both greedy thieves imo. But the argument is that "making college affordable" is in general better for society. They then come up with stats showing that college grads make more money than others, etc. But as an outsider looking in, why should taxpayers be subsidizing something that is by no means a basic human right, is non-essential to living. This is inherently elitist(since it umes college is "better" than other pathways to success. I'm not some sort of radical or anything like that. I just think we should just start looking at these things from the outside looking in, rather from the inside looking in
