Mac or windows? Who came out with this feature first?

The option to sleep on Macs or stand by on Windows. It kind of makes screen savers obsolete, don't you think? Anyway, I was interested in who thought of this feature first Macs or Windows? I figured Macs because they got the name "Sleep" which sounds a lot better than "Stand by" in the same way that Macs had "Trash Can" so Windows had to call theirs "Recycle Bin."
